A look into women’s eye health

Women's Eye Health (April)

Women of all walks of life experience vision challenges in their daily lives and routines. Whether at home or at the workplace, women face various environmental factors that affect their eyesight. Certain genetic causes may also contribute to these vision barriers and difficulties, such as hormonal changes and age, as well as, personal habits and work cultures.

Studies claim that women suffer from various vision problems more than men. About 65% of the world’s population with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are women. Other eye conditions include glaucoma, cataract, refractive error, vision impairment, and blindness. At home, women are the decision-makers of the family’s health care. Besides their own health, they are responsible for the health care choices of their children, partners, spouse, and aging parents.
