Owner and designer and the brains behind it all, Kerin Rose Gold, creates these glasses, which definitely makes heads turn. This native New Yorker graduated from NYU with a degree in pop culture history. With her passion for classical music and rock‘n’roll, Kerin launched her label with a capsule collection of four classic frames, which were all named after her favourite music composers. The speciality and the uniqueness of these four frames was that they were all hand encrusted with Swarovski crystals. Now, each one of the individual pieces has become a work of art itself. The story of this artist began when she started working part-time at the legendary Patricia Field boutique during her gap year. The buyers there insisted that she made some to sell in the store. The first round of her work was sold quickly, soon did the subsequent ones. Kerin even set up a webshop and started to make online sales. A few months later, Katy Perry wore her crystal heart sunglasses, and that is how she rose to fame. Kerin’s designs stand out from the rest as each item is hand made with premium materials which no one would even think to try. Diligent creations adorned with Swarovski crystals, spikes, chains, lace, studs, feathers, 24 Karat gold crystals and pearls reflect Kerin’s love for glam and luxury. It was not until Kerin made the Love/Hate chain necklace sunglasses and soon was connected with Rihanna. That’s when she realized that this is how she would make a living out of this. Rihanna purchased a few pairs and wore them the night she got them. Kerin Rose Gold became an overnight celebrity, with almost all the fashion and celebrity blogs writing about her and linking it to her webshop. Two years later, Kerin debuted her collections in Milan as one of Vogue’s new designers. She has since worked with princesses of pop music. Lady Gaga, Missy Elliot, Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj and many other celebrities rock out her avant-garde creations. One would automatically assume and anticipate that her workspace would consist of a large factory, with a line of workers assembling the delicate pieces together, but instead, it is only Kerin working by herself in a studio, the size of a small city apartment. Kerin’s way of work is simple. Most of her ventures have been working with clients on custom eyewear pieces. The client and Kerin discuss designs via email, and if they are in NYC, they come down for a design session. A week later, the clients get their custom piece delivered to their private address. One of the craziest custom requests she received was when she made the Baracuda frames for Rihanna. There is nothing subtle about this eyewear.
