The Focus A-Eye Summit is a first-of-its-kind forum designed as an interdisciplinary experience bringing together people who are shaping the future of eye care, including ophthalmologists, researchers, pharmaceutical and device leaders, and AI developers. The purpose is to explore how AI can be effectively integrated across the full spectrum of disciplines in eye care to enhance innovation, aid in research, improve practice efficiency and enhance patient care.
The program features a distinguished faculty including Dr. Sharon Bakalash, Kristine Morrill, Dr. Malvina Eydelman, Professor Anat Loewenstein, Dr. Omer Trivizki, Dr. I. Paul Singh, Dr. Devinder Chauhan, and keynote speaker Euan Thomson.
“Artificial intelligence has reached an inflection point in ophthalmology, but meaningful adoption requires collaboration across disciplines,” said Dr. Sharon Bakalash, Founder of Focus A-Eye. “This Summit was created to bring together the key stakeholders needed to move from innovation to implementation.”
Co-founder Kristine Morrill added, “Our goal is to create a platform where clinical insight, technological innovation, and commercial strategy converge, enabling AI solutions that are both scalable and impactful.”
Focus A-Eye™ Summit in Denver* Date: Saturday, May 2, 2026 Time: 5:30 PM (Evening Program) Location: Embassy Suites Denver Downtown 1420 Stout St, Denver CO 80202
Program Overview
The summit is designed to be an immersive, high-energy session focused on translating artificial intelligence from concept to clinical reality with keynote insights, dynamic debates, and hands-on breakout sessions. Keynote speaker Euan Thomson will open the Focus A-Eye Summit with a talk titled “AI in Healthcare: From Consumer Revolution to Clinical Reality,” which will draw on decades of his leadership across medtech, digital health, and innovation.
From there, sessions will examine how AI is reshaping critical areas of ophthalmology, including drug discovery, clinical trial design, diagnostics, and patient management. A central feature of the program is an interactive “Reverse Shark Tank,” where clinicians and industry stakeholders will challenge innovators to address the most pressing unmet needs in ophthalmology. Breakout discussions will then explore applications across both anterior and posterior segment diseases, including retina, glaucoma, cataract, cornea, and myopia.
The Focus A-Eye Summit also introduces cross-industry perspectives, including a session on performance optimization inspired by Formula One, highlighting how data-driven decisionmaking can enhance clinical workflows and efficiency.
