									<p>Expo Óptica reaches another edition consolidated as the biggest event in the optical sector in Latin America. The fair emerged in 2003 under the name Expo Abióptica and is part of the international circuit of events in the sector, alongside MIDO (Milan), Expo Vision (Las Vegas), Silmo (Paris) and Optical Fair (Hong Kong).</p><p>Abióptica promotes and holds Expo Óptica, attracting the biggest global brands that compete for the preference of the Brazilian consumer. Expo Óptica fulfills its role as a hub for conducting business.</p><p>The annual meeting creates the right environment for the main representatives of global optics to present the full range of news, innovations and trends to market professionals.</p><p>At each event, Abióptica promotes discussions and lectures to provide more information to executives of companies in the sector. The themes cover all facets of the market: fashion, economy, health, technology and behavior.</p><p>Expo Óptica is the largest business hub for the optical industry in Brazil. The balance sheets show constant growth in sales of products and services, showing the strength of the in-person event as a driver of business in the sector.</p><p>This explains why the fair that will take place in 2024 was completely sold in just one day of selling the spaces.</p><p>Expo Óptica will take place from 10-13 April 2024 at Expo Center Norte, red pavilion in São Paulo (SP).</p><p> </p><p> </p>								</div>

									<p>The finalists of this year&#8217;s <em>Love Eyewear Awards</em> have been revealed by the organisers of 100% Optical, a famous optical event in the UK. The three-day show, which runs from February 25-27 at ExCeL London, champions the exciting world of eyewear and all things optics in the industry.</p><p>Following another record-breaking year of entries for the <em>Love Eyewear Awards</em> from independent and major designers, manufacturers and retailers, the shortlist of nominees across 12 diverse categories features Carolina Herrera, Scotch &amp; Soda, David Green Eyewear, JFrey, Vysen, Tomato Glasses and Feb31st.</p><p>&#8220;Since our launch in 2020, these awards have become more and more prestigious and sought-after, making the shortlisting process a tough one for our judges. Whilst I don&#8217;t envy their decisions, I believe the shortlist is a fantastic reflection of the fast-growing and exciting industry we&#8217;re in. The awards ceremony is a real show highlight and we look forward to crowning our winners,&#8221; said Nathan Garnett, 100% Optical show director.</p><p>Chosen by a panel of judges starring a number of high-profile designers, artists, academics, journalists and influencers from the industry, the winners will be announced at 5pm on Saturday 25th February on the Catwalk at the 100%.</p><p>This year’s categories include: New Designer 2023, Women&#8217;s Frame of the Year, Women&#8217;s Sunglasses Frame of the Year, Men&#8217;s Frame of the Year, Men&#8217;s Sunglasses Frame of the Year, Unisex Frame of the Year, Luxury Frame of the Year, Kids Frame of the Year, Sustainable Frame of the Year, Eyewear Accessory of the Year, Eyewear Retailer of the Year, and Most Engaging Practice Window.</p><p> </p>								</div>

									<p>Milano, 15 December 2022 – The CSE (Certified Sustainable Eyewear) Award is a prize established by MIDO, in partnership with ANFAO and Certottica, to honor sustainability in the global eyewear industry.</p><p>All exhibitors at MIDO 2023 are eligible to participate in this first edition of the award by nominating a pair of sunglasses, eyewear frames or an eyewear case. An international panel of expert judges will evaluate the competing products which, to qualify for a win, must have been produced in compliance with the principles of sustainability.</p><p>Recycled materials, reduced consumption in the production and distribution processes, maximization of the supply chain, elimination of waste, degree of recyclability, use of renewable resources and any certifications already achieved, are just some of the criteria the jury will use to determine the first winners in the following 6 categories:</p><ul><li>CSE Award Sunglasses Europe</li><li>CSE Award Sunglasses Rest of the World</li><li>CSE Award Frames Europe</li><li>CSE Award Frames Rest of the World</li><li>CSE Award Cases Europe</li><li>CSE Award Cases Rest of the World</li></ul><p>To participate, exhibitors at MIDO 2023 must complete the online form, available from 15 December 2022 to 15 January 2023 in the “Take Part” section of the<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong> <a href="https://www.mido.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official website</a></strong></span>. Starting on 15 December, exhibitors can download the Regulations, review all of the judging criteria and submit their nomination.</p><p>&#8220;This is a necessary step in the eyewear industry,&#8221; comments MIDO President Giovanni Vitaloni. &#8220;In our sector we have companies that have been truly committed and active in the field of sustainability (environmental, social, economic) for a long time: I am thinking of the big players but also independent brands that produce with the lowest possible impact on the ecosystem. I believe that we should get together, taking inspiration from the experience of these companies, improving where possible and keeping up to date in order to make the whole industry grow in this direction, with great professionalism and determination. This award is a fundamental milestone for us, which does not, however, decree the end of this journey, but the stage of a path that began in 2019 and which obtained, for MIDO 2022, the ISO 20121:2012 certification, which proves the sustainable management of major events&#8221;.</p>								</div>

									<p>The calendar of events for the forthcoming edition of MIDO, the international eyewear show set to take place February 4<sup>th</sup> to 6<sup>th</sup> at Fiera Milano Rho, will soon be available. Countless opportunities for debate, reflection, exchange of ideas and interaction are in the works for opticians from around the world who flock to the show each year in pursuit of the latest innovations and trends in eyewear and, most importantly, ready to finalize sales agreements and conduct business. Only at MIDO will opticians find the entire eyewear supply chain represented – from manufacturers of lenses and machinery to the leading international producers of optical and sun frames, alongside small independent designers. OttiClub is the space where training and conferences with industry professionals are held, while the famous MIDO squares will be enlivened with meetings, conversations, enjoyment and entertainment.</p><p>Visitors who would like to attend the show can register by completing the form on the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://www.mido.com/en/entry-pass" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a></strong></span>. Italian opticians can, again this year, take advantage of complimentary train service from Rome, Bologna, Florence and Venice. All of the details will soon be available in the ‘participate’ section on the MIDO website.</p><p>Even though the calendar of conferences, events and meetings during the show is still being finalized, the exhibit areas and pavilions for the next MIDO are certain. In fact, six pavilions at Fiera Milano Rho will host MIDO 2023, one more than at the previous edition. The trade fair also returns to its ‘traditional’ location with stands in pavilions 1 and 3, 2 and 4, 6 and 10. Also confirmed are the exhibit areas – Fashion District, Design Tech, Design Lab, Lenses, FAiR East, Tech, Lab Academy and Start Up. The latter, introduced last year, will host emerging players at an eco-sustainable stand made with recycled and recyclable materials, in keeping with the show’s environmental accountability program begun in 2019. Also dedicated to the newest brands is a space promoted by ITA (Italian Trade Agency for the international promotion and internationalization of Italian businesses) and by MIDO, that will showcase the work of start-ups selected by ITA.</p><p>Exhibitors from around the globe, arriving from Europe (France, Germany, Spain, etc.) as well as from the UK and USA, to mention just the top countries, have already reserved their space at MIDO, reaffirming the show’s international reach. Excellent response also from Asian businesses that are returning this year to the area dedicated to their products. “We are extremely pleased with the participation by Asian countries, especially China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, India, Malaysia and Thailand, that, despite the still-high Covid restrictions, will exhibit at the forthcoming edition of the show, remarked Giovanni Vitaloni, President of MIDO. Last May, as we closed the doors of MIDO 2022, we were determined to bring back the Asian exhibitors and, in spite of the difficult international situation, we are achieving our objective, another sign of the international appeal of the Milanese eyewear show.” </p><p>MIDO also means active participation by the visiting public. In fact, nominations are open for the BeStore award, decided by an international jury of experts and presented to optical centers that offer the best shopping experience, in the ‘Design’ category, and the most outstanding customer service, in the ‘Innovation’ category. 									<p>Visitors can now register on the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://www.mido.com/en/entry-pass" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MIDO website</a></strong></span> for the forthcoming edition of the most awaited international eyewear show.</p><p>On February 4-6, the world of optics will meet at MIDO 2023, where the best the industry has to offer in terms of trends, innovation, design, sustainability and creativity will be on display, in a setting where deals are made and sales are closed. </p><p>MIDO 2023 opens with a fresh look and a new claim: &#8220;The Eyewear State of the Art&#8221;. Both epitomize the values that, for more than 50 years, have set this show apart – contemporaneity, culture, fashion and beauty. The new FRAMES communication campaign designed by Max Galli in partnership with the Mixer Group, comprises four subjects that will accompany the sector all the way for showtime. </p><p>&#8220;We are hard at work on the 2023 show, after the April 2022 edition (the first post-pandemic show) exceeded all expectations, drawing the participation of 22,000 professionals and 670 exhibiting companies. MIDO continues to be the hub around which relationships between industry professionals from around the world revolve,&#8221; noted President Giovanni Vitaloni.</p><p>&#8220;We are aware that these are precarious, problematic times, further aggravated by the international situation. <p>The 2020 edition of SILMO Paris which was scheduled to kick off on 2-5 October 2020 at the Paris Nord Villepinte has been canceled due to the COVID19 pandemic.</p>
<p>“We extend great thanks to the 688 registered exhibitors who demonstrated great entrepreneurial courage by deciding to maintain their participation in Silmo Paris 2020, despite the crisis we are going through,” said Amélie Morel, Chairwoman of the SILMO Association, in a press release published 23 July 2020.</p>
<p>Morel further expressed the show’s commitment to guiding the industry’s return to business and upholding its pledge to the optical and eyewear sector.</p>
<p>“From October to November 2020, Silmo will set out to encounter opticians in France and throughout Europe. ‘Silmo Hors les Murs’ (‘Silmo Outside the Walls’) will propose events that honor our commitment to support the industry, in keeping with the Silmo convivial spirit!</p>
<p>“This unprecedented operation will begin on 4 and 5 October 2020 at the heart of Paris, and will be repeated every Monday in the month of October in a different city, such as Bordeaux, Lyon, Rennes and Brussels. The program is still being finalized,” she added.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the 2020 Silmo d’Or Awards will go forward for registered companies, while Silmo Academy will still issue a scholarship this year to support an optical science research project. Whereas, Silmo Next will continue probing into product developments through a specialized application.</p>
<p>Silmo Paris 2021 is happening on 24-27 September 2021 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center.</p>
