World Optometry Day exhibition sheds light on eye disease

World Optometry Day Exhibition, An-Najah University, Palestine

In light of the World Optometry Day, the Optometry Department of An-Najah National University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Palestine organized the World Optometry Day Exhibition on March 23, 2019.

Spearheaded by Dr. Ithar Beshtawi, Educator and Head of the Optometry Department at An-Najah National University, the exhibition aimed at raising students’ and visitors’ awareness pertaining to eye diseases’ definition, treatment and prevention measures.

It included booths through which the department students introduced the visitors to eye anatomy, visual pathway, optical illusion, first aids for ocular emergencies, amblyopia, myopia control and vision 2020. Furthermore, it also highlights the global initiative that aims to eliminate avoidable blindness by the year 2020, as well as, common eye problems and infections and choosing glasses according to the shape of the face.

It also exhibited a booth for vision testing, including visual acuity, eye movements, ocular misalignment, stereopsis and color vision.
